First Beach Day

A few weeks ago we had our first semi-warm day.  It's been an especially March this year.  We made the best of the warmth and headed to the beach!

All things Eastery

The kids and I packed up and headed north for Spring Break.  Most people go south to beaches and warm weather, not us!  We went north to Indiana to cold weather and rain, but also to Gran and Pop which made the whole trip worthwhile. We missed Daddy, he had to stay and work, but we sure did have fun!

When Life Give You Lemons...

Cade and Cora are participating in a "LEMONADE WAR" Read-A-Thon with SCPS Lower School.  We're raising money for Alex's Lemonade Childhood Cancer Foundation.  We're taking bids for how many books we can read.  If you bid 50 cents a book, and they read 20 books, you owe them $10.00.  They're reading their hearts out, and they've only got one more week.  If you would like to support them in their efforts, you can donate online at http://www.alexslemonade.org/mypage/91862

Three Cheers for a Minnie Mouse Tea Party

In an effort to not "short change" the third child, we threw Clara a Minnie Mouse tea party! She wanted a Minnie party, and I've always wanted a tea party, so we compromised! It was such fun! These were the most precious girls EVER!

We found and painted two paint your own pottery tea sets from the Wal-Mart clearance rack.  We let our guests take their tea cup and saucer as party favors!

one, two, THREE!!!

I can't believe that our "baby" is three!  She was the sweetest birthday girl ever!  She sang to herself before eating her birthday pancakes this morning.  She was THRILLED to take cupcakes to her sitter's house to share with friends, we went for yogurt after school, and then had birthday spaghetti and "meaten" balls for dinner!  Her favorite! Now she's tired and full and very happy to be THREE!  Stay tuned for our Minnie Mouse tea party pics after Saturday!

FIRE

We are fortunate to have a house today.  On Wednesday while we were at school, our backyard shed caught fire.  We have no clue how, the firemen couldn't determine a cause, but we do know that we were so lucky!  The neighbors behind us just happened to have a man working on a deck behind their house and he saw the fire catch.  Once the shed caught fire it pretty much exploded.  If the Isle of Hope Fire Department hadn't have acted quickly, we'd surely have lost our house.  We lost the shed and all of its contents, Cade's tree fort, five trees, and the swing set.  It could have been so much worse.  We're so thankful that we're safe, and all our animals are safe.  Poor Leia dog was a backyard eyewitness.  The firemen said she was pretty much freaking out!  I have a new appreciation for the power of fire.
